TANZANIA
MAGIC!
It is a breeding area for hawksbill turtles and home to many dolphins.
We will have the opportunity to do reef cleanup dives and help maintain the local coral nursery, to support the health of this beautiful underwater world.
The adventure begins in Zanzibar! The waters around Zanzibar are some of the most abundant in the world. There are over 500 species of fish in crystal clear water, with reefs, walls, deep diving and excellent snorkeling.
We will be there in the dry season, and will likely see white tip and black tip sharks, dolphins, spotted eagle rays, turtles, seahorses, humpback whales and maybe even whale sharks! The macro life is world famous: nudibranchs, Spanish dancers, frog fish, leaf fish, mantis shrimp, octopus; cuttlefish, porcelain crabs and so many more; all common.
We had such a fantastic time in Tanzania in 2024 that we just have to go again! This time we will have a week in Zanzibar and have extended our safari to include Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds.
Our safari will be heading to North Serengeti for the Great Migration of Wildebeest and Zebras across the Mara River and we will fly out of North Serengheti to Arusha on our final day.
This is the largest migration of animals in the world, with up to two million wildebeest and 300,000 zebras.
We will be traveling with the exceptional Victor Izoba owner of Transcendent Journeys, and Instructor at the Professional Guide School in Arusha.

THE SAFARI
Week 2 Safari - Sept 4 - 10, 2027

Our safari will take us into the extraordinary worlds of Tarangire National Park and the Serengeti.
Tarangire is a lush tree-covered park centered around the Tarangire River. This river provides fresh water to a wide variety of wild animals during the dry season, especially huge herds of elephants.
The scale of the Serengeti is unfathomable; almost 6,000 square miles! We will drive through the endless plains of central Serengeti for the first part of our safari and then head north for the Great Migration. We will stay inside the park and be surrounded by wildlife day and night. Our experienced guides will take us, in our Land Cruisers, to find animals of all sizes and descriptions as we traverse the extraordinary beauty of the plains, forests and Baobab trees with climbing pythons!
We will drive into the world’s largest crater, Ngorongoro Crater, home to an estimated 30,000 large mammals.
On our final morning we will fly from Kogatende, northern Serengeti to Arusha and then be driven to Kilimanjaro to meet our international flights. Departures should be booked from JRO any time after 5 PM on the 10th of September.
