Curaçao is a well kept secret, with some of the best diving in the Caribbean. It has a fringing reef surrounding the island with calm water and great visibility. There is an abundance of fish life, healthy corals, macro life and even wrecks. There are mountains of brain, stony and elkhorn corals which are home to seahorses, frog fish and turtles galore. This is the perfect place to gain dive experience for new divers.

Curacao also offers an abundance of on-land and water based activities: hiking, shopping, visiting the colorful city of Willemstad, kayaking, zip-lining, spectacular snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding, Shete Boka National Park, a liqueur distillery to tour, or a visit to the Old Salt Farm near the wild flamingo meeting grounds.

We will be staying at the top of the line LionsDive Beach Resort, an ocean-front property with a large private beach, partnering with Ocean Encounters Curaçao dive center. The beautiful white sand beach has ample shade, lots of comfortable lounge chairs and seats at your disposal. While relaxing on the beach there is a drink and snack service! There is also snorkeling, an olympic-sized pool for lap swimming, a leisure pool, a fully equipped gym, a full service spa, and yoga and cross training on the beach.

The LionsDive Beach Resort is known as the “natural place to stay” due to its idyllic setting and perfect location. You walk out of your room and are right at the dive shop, or the gorgeous Mambo beach.

This 4 star property has 4 on-site restaurants and bars for your dining pleasure! Our week will have breakfast and dinners included.

LionsDive is a very eco-conscious operation. Here is how they describe it:

Green Mission of LionsDive: ‘LionsDive Beach Resort is aware that tourism can only survive in a world that is not only environmentally sustainable, but also economically and socially responsible. From its opening in 1989, LionsDive has offered accommodations that embrace nature, and to date, strives for the highest standards in sustainability ventures.’

Our concierge diving with Ocean Encounters Curaçao will be on custom designed boats for our group alone. We will have 5 days of two tank guided morning boat dives and one night boat dive.

Ocean Encounters Curaçao also provides us with unlimited shore diving 24/7 on the beautiful house reef which is home to the coral nursery of Reef Renewal Curaçao.

Conservation

We have two opportunities for conservation learning:

  • Discover Reef Renewal Experience – This experience includes a workshop to learn about coral growth and maintenance, followed by a shore dive to assist with the coral nursery maintenance.

  • Aware Coral Reef Conservation Specialty Certification – This workshop informs divers about how coral reefs function and why they are so important in the world. It also highlights the plight of the world’s coral and what you can do as a diver to better protect coral. Upon completion, you will receive a PADI specialty certification getting you one step closer to becoming a Master Scuba Diver.
