Extraordinary dive and safari adventure to Tanzania!
We had such a fantastic time in Tanzania in 2022 that we just have to go again! This time we are extending the time in Zanzibar, supporting the Nadumu Maasai Women's Project in Tanzania and have a 7-day safari.
Our safari will be heading to North Serengeti for the Great Migration of Wildebeest and Zebras across the Mara River.
This is the largest migration of animals in the world, with up to two million wildebeest and 300,000 zebras.
We will be traveling with Victor Izoba owner of Transcendent Journeys, and Instructor at the
Professional Guide School in Arusha.
This adventure begins in Zanzibar! The waters around Zanzibar are some of the most abundant in the world. There are over 500 species of fish in crystal clear water, with reefs, walls, deep diving and excellent snorkeling.
We will be there in the dry season, and will likely see white tip and black tip sharks, dolphins, spotted eagle rays, turtles, seahorses, humpback whales and maybe even whale sharks! The macro life is world famous: nudibranchs, Spanish dancers, frog fish, leaf fish, mantis shrimp, octopus; cuttlefish, porcelain crabs and so many more; all common.
It is a breeding area for hawksbill turtles and home to many dolphins.
We will have the opportunity to do reef cleanup dives and help maintain the local coral nursery, to support the health of this beautiful underwater world.
Zanzibar
Arrive any time on July 6th, or July 5th if you'd like an extra day to rest.
We begin our adventure at the Sunshine Marine Lodge,
a stunning beach front Swahili style hotel with onsite PADI 5 Star Dive shop. This beautiful setting boasts a gourmet restaurant that will provide our International style meals with a Swahili twist and local spices and flavors from this ‘Spice Island’. The glorious food fresh from the ocean and local village prepared with aromatic spices will be a unique experience for your tastebuds!
When we must leave this beautiful place our adventure continues with a flight to Arusha to prepare for our private group safari!
TANZANIA
MORE
MAGIC!
Our main diving area is Mnemba atoll, marine conservation area since 2005 and home to two rarely seen creatures- the dragon eel and the largest nudibranch, the Djibouti Spanish dancer.
THE SAFARI
Our safari will take us into the extraordinary world of Serengeti. The scale of this park is unfathomable; almost 6,000 square miles! We will drive for several hours to reach central
Serengeti for the first part of our Safari and then drive farther north for the Great Migration. We will stay inside the park and be surrounded by wildlife day and night. Our experienced guides will take us, in our Land Cruisers, to find animals of all sizes and descriptions as we traverse the extraordinary beauty of the plains and forests and Baobab trees with climbing pythons!
We will drive into the world’s largest crater, Ngorongoro Crater, home to an estimated 30,000 large mammals.
Our final night will be spent relaxing in a resort hotel from where will depart for Kilimanjaro airport. Departures will be from JRO any time after 2 PM on the 19th of July.
